Youth and Parent Class
An intro class for youth younger than 16 with a parent/adult relative
Service Description
This is an introductory class for youth younger than 16 and older than 13... BUT an adult relative must also participate in the class and be present at all times. If the youth is challenged by the physical or mental requirements, the instructor has the option to modify the class to accommodate the youth's abilities. This class is for youth (age 13 and up) and a parent to take together. Both will learn basic blacksmithing techniques and both will participate. The parent is present to provide additional supervision for the youth and to learn alongside their child. This is not only a great bonding experience but also gives the parent a clear understanding of their child's skill and ability and provides a foundation for the parent to foster the youth's future development. The class is geared toward the youth's capabilities and the teaching, techniques and project are adapted based on how the class progresses. A parent MUST be present (neighbors/friends may not be substituted) and be active in the lesson. Through Boy Scouts of America programs, 4-H and other venues I have taught hundreds of youth of all ages and I will adapt to the level of the youth to provide a fun and educational experience. This class must be reserved via a phone call/discussion so please email djhayes@iron-osprey-designs.com or call/text Doug at 910-330-7601.
