Service Description

Our Open Forge sessions at Iron Osprey Forge are a way to pursue and deepen your blacksmithing skills without having to build your own shop, or let you use tools you may not have access to in your space. An open forge session allows current and prior students, or those known to Iron Osprey to have basic skills and safe practices, to use the forges, shop tools and space to work on their individual projects, practice and expand their skills and have an experienced smith on hand for questions or advice. Please note this is not a structured class - participants will be working on their own, with advice available, but the staff member will not be providing extensive instruction - but is available to provide guidance, tips and advice. Participants WILL be given instruction in how to use the tools and forges and expected safety precautions. A maximum of six (6) individuals will be able to use the forge/shop area. Others are welcome to come and watch as long as they do not disrupt or interfere with the registered smiths. Mild steel will be available at a minimal charge. Duration ranges from 4-6 hours depending on schedule.
